Cream Puff For Sale?

October 10th, 2008 by Carter
C&C 34 R

C&C 34 R

As Pacino in Scar Face would say “It’s a cream puff, baby!”  Thats what this month’s brokerage boat of the month is – a cream puff.  This C&C 34 R is a solidly built boat which rates around 81 racing and 93 cruising.  Pefect for the the racer that wants a fast boat but not the huge waterline and up keep.  Also this is a great cruiser/racer with full ammenities down below including an enclosed head (great for the ladies), full v-berth and a decent size galley and nav. station.  At about half the price of a J105, C&C 99, Beneteau 36.7 or a J100 this boat is a great deal, especially since the economy may put a pinch in our pockets over the next few months.  Now is the time to buy as there are some great deals out there so take a look at what’s available from our friends and sponsor East Coast Yacht Sales.

Brokerage Boats of Month J-30 & Beneteau 36.7

June 4th, 2008 by Carter

This month we decided to highlight two different types of boats for our boat of the month. We chose a J-30, which is a less expensive option to get on the water, versus the Beneteau 36.7. Both are great, comfortable, race/cruiser boats that would make any new boat owner happy. See below for the reviews.

j30photobrokerageboatofmonth.jpgWe will start with the J-30 listing, asking price $27,500. There are quite a few of these boats in Casco Bay and not too many years ago, there was a big one design class for the weekend races. The boat sleeps 6, has beautiful teak and holly sole, a drop leaf table for dining, and plenty of storage space for all of your things. The boat has been well maintained by one owner and we think it is a must see. To read further, click here.

beneteauboatofmonth.jpg Here we have another great boat, the Beneteau 36.7, with an asking price of $118,500. This boat has more bells and whistles compared with the J-30, and is much newer, only five years old. The head is complete with a shower and it would be a comfortable boat to cruise with the family. The bottom has been professionally faired so it will be a fast racer in addition to a cruiser. Casco Bay has one of these boats already so why not add to the fleet and create a great one-design class? (there were 50 boats at the North American Championships in Buffalo, NY last year) You can read the full write up with specs here.

Looking to buy a Race Boat this Summer?

May 8th, 2008 by Gretchen

I just found two great race boats for sale that have been racing locally in Casco Bay and are for sale in Falmouth, ME. The first is a Taylor 41′, known to many as Sheerness and sailed by the Maine Maritime Academy. The asking price is $79,500. It will be interesting to see what MMA will sail this summer if it sells. Another great race boat for sale is a 43′ Dobroth Sloop, recognized as Revolution IX. The asking price is $129,500. Will this be replaced with a new Revolution X? New Wave Yachts is the listing broker for both options and if you want to see pictures and read more about these great boats, you can find them at Taylor 41′ and Dobroth 43′ .

Brokerage Boat of the Month Center Harbor 35

May 6th, 2008 by Gretchen

center-harbor-35.jpg

The Center Harbor 35 is an elegant, sophisticated and fast looking boat, designed by Joel White and built by Brooklin Boat Yard. The boat can accomodate a large party for a daysail, but can also be easily handled solo. If you would like to stay overnight, there are comfortable berths down below, amongst the beautiful teak and mahogany interior. I have raced on a Center Harbor design before, and I can say first hand that they are fast and they handle like a dream. This boat is a classic beauty and that is why it makes our brokerage boat of the month. To see more click here.

Brand NEW C&C 115 SnowBird Gets Launched

April 24th, 2008 by Gretchen

snowbird-enhanced-photo-of-launch.JPG

The first race boat of the season has now splashed into the water. Jon Randall bought a new C&C 115 and it was launched yesterday at Handy Boat. There are plenty of moorings in the water and soon others will start to launch and join Snowbird in the Falmouth anchorage. This proves that it is not too early to start thinking about the boating season ahead of us. Below is a picture, courtsey of Rob Windsor Tartan C&C Yachts Long Island, of Snowbird at the dock. She looks great in the water and will be tough competition in the races this year.

The C&C 115 class will be having their debut of one design sailing in the Annapolis NOOD regatta this weekend. We will give you the updates throughout the event. They have an impressive 9 boats registered for the event and perhaps Snowbird will join them next year.

Brokerage Boat of the Month Greene 38

April 1st, 2008 by Carter

Green 38

Walter Greene is arguably the finest trimaran designer and builder of his time and SCOUT is arguably one of his finest efforts both in design and construction!! Her one owner has used her primarily as a fast cruiser. She has had the finest of care from a knowledgeable yachtsman and shows extremely well. Major upgrades in ’06 include a custom carbon fiber spar!!

I have sailed and raced this boat which is fun, fast and safe. Unfortunately the time I raced the boat the wind quit and after hours of bobbing around we had to call it quits and go in for dinner. Even though the wind died that day, earlier the owner let me drive the boat for awhile and we got her going over 12knots in light breeze. Boy its fun to sail by those old, slow monohulls!

I also was on board for a sail test once off Freeport where we got the speed up over 18 knots as I recall. That was a lot of fun but didn’t last long because we were testing a bunch of different sails.

The boat has raced in a few offshore races including the Monhegan Island Race and the Yarmouth Cup.  This is truly a one of a kind.
