Come See Regatta Promotions at the Maine Boatbuilders Show!

March 10th, 2008 by Carter

This weekend marks the 20th Maine Boatbuilders Show in Portland, Maine. Regatta Promotions will have a booth at the show giving away fun things to people who stop by our booth. On-line registration for most of our events will be “live” by this weekend and we will be encouraging skippers (by giving away fun prizes) to register for their favorite events at the show.

The Maine Boatbuilders Show is at a perfect time for most of us in the northeast, even though it snows every year, it’s still a great time to meet friends and start thinking that the snow and ice will melt and we will be able to enjoy our favorite sport soon enough.

Check out this week’s new Poll Question, “What is the best Sailboat Boat Show in the United States?” We have put up 9 of the most well know shows. There are hundreds of shows throughout the U.S. so if you don’t see your favorite, make sure you add your answer.

March 1st in Arundel Maine, the Landing School will be playing host to some of the United States best short-handed sailors. Josh Hall, Bruce Schwab, Brian Hancock and Rich Wilson will be on hand to provide their thoughts and expertise about technologies and techniques that are required for successful short-handed racing around the globe. The lecture is open to the public and is free so make sure that you take advantage of this great opportunity to hear from the best. Their expertise can certainly be translated into benefits for any racer or cruiser wishing to get the best out of their boat and sailing experience.

Is NE Boatshow for Sailors?

January 23rd, 2008 by Carter

J-100 at NE Boatshow

Saw three interesting boats at the NE boatshow are great for racers or cruiser/racers.  Also there were only 10 or so booths that  were appealing for sailors, less if you weren’t interested in new sails.  The photo above is a J-100 which obviously has been on the racing scene for a while but is still cool.  The rating in PHRF is favorable and the boat is super quick and comfortable.  This boat has lifelines though which isn’t standard and I prefer the boat without.

The King is Coming!

January 10th, 2008 by Carter

Over 110 boats the Kings Cup in Asia is a well organized and promoted event. Oh yeah invite the King and name the event after him doesn’t hurt either. How many times were you interviewed for a tv spot as a race officer? Not many?

Did I see a few Kiwi 35s sailing? What winged wonders!
