Is a popular Maine boatyard for sale or sold?
January 29th, 2008 by CarterHandy Boat in Falmouth, Maine owned by Merle Hallett is rumored to be in the process of changing hands. Mr. Hallett a long time sailing enthusiast and proficient sailboat racer has long been a promoter of the sport and friend to many sailors far and wide. Hopefully sailors won’t miss out on this gem of a boatyard that hasn’t changed since the 70s or will it get better? Maybe cruisers will finally get that well deserved shower the cruising guides have been promising for years. Here is the view from Handy’s top floor - one of the best views in all of Casco Bay.

Hopefully, someone will sink a few bucks into it. Move the restaurant upstairs with a deck bar. Move the Boathouse and the loft and all boatyard operations down closer to the lower property.
Thanks to Merle for all he has done. For his sake, hope it goes through this time.

The new owner is or will be John Marr president of Tyler Technologies. He owns a home on the water in Falmouth Foreside and I believe owns a power boat. I agree with you that I hope those changes are made because in theory they make sense, however they only make sense if you want to still cater to sailors and sailboats. I believe John is a power boater and I hope he doesn’t neglect or dismiss the many loyal sailors in Casco Bay.
