Sorcha Merrill is a performing songwriter and collaborative artist of blues-infused folk-jazz. Raised in a ridiculously creative family in Downeast Maine, Sorcha now resides in Portland Maine and continues to perform solo and with her band throughout Maine and New England at clubs, cafes, weddings, festivals and benefit events.
She fancies music, art, and collaboration more as a lifestyle than a hobby and she has production associate credits on internationally distributed studio recordings for Telarc Blues (produced by Deluge Entertainment) and live productions - such as Accord Music Group's Saltwater Music Festival and Maine Songwriters Association events - to show for it. This popular event, started in 1998, is a two day regatta attracting over 50 boats and 200 competitors. The sailing courses are both on outer Casco Bay and inner Casco Bay using drop marks set by the race committee. This event has a traditional race format designed to encourage the racing enthusiast and bring plenty of regional competition.
This event is the Maine State Championship for boats holding a valid PHRF certificate. There will be a one design line set on inner Casco Bay and the PHRF racing will take place outside of the Hussey Sound. Etchells, J-24's, J-105s, and Ensigns are all some of the one design fleets expected for 2008.
There will be daily awards given out for each class. A Saturday evening cocktail party, dinner and live entertainment is fun for the whole crew; an added bonus as part of the registration this year. We hope to see you at this great event!
